Anyone going to the Houston Heat Invitational Tournament this weekend? My son has been asked to play for a team at the last minute. What is the past experience with this tournament. Do many college scouts attend? Tough decision because he is suppose to go to a birthday party for his grandmother who has been not been in the best of health for sometime. This has been planned for months, but we don't really want to hold him back from playing if it could mean an opportunity to be seen by some scouts. Decisions, decisions.....

Hello lew,
I would put family first, but that's just me. The Houston Heat is one of the top select HS programs in the country. Always have a plethera of talent, and Phil Cross runs a good tournament and a great program that sends a lot of players to a lot of Texas colleges and beyond. There are always more than enough scouts and coaches at their events as their competition is usually very talented as well.

If your son can make the tourney I would advise it, but only before and after the birthday party. Wink

If you'd like to ask me anything just send me a PM, I used to be a coach for their younger teams, and still keep contact with Phil Cross.
