Nobody's kids have their height determined by national averages. It's determined by genetics. My daughter is 5'10". My son is 6'2". We weren't surprised by either based on our height and the height in the family tree.

As for poster's having tall kids, the better athletes are usually tall. My son looks at the athletes around him and thinks 6'2" is normal height.

I also tend to wonder how old some of the charts are. Maybe it's just me, but kids seem so much bigger now than when I ws in high school. When I was a kid, a 6-footer was a tall kid. When I walked into the indoor facility at the U of Arkansas last November for a prospect camp it seemed like a 6-footer was a midget. Everybody looked 6' 6".

I think you are right on about kids being bigger and taller but IMO it is called evolution.

Of course some will argue there is no such thing but can you argue scientific evidence?

Plus unless your kids eat all natural foods as well as beef and chicken raised without antibiotics they might reach puberty faster, which may limit their size.  Young girls are beginning their menstrual cycles at 11-12 and boys have significant facial hair at that age as well.

I actually am not understanding why someone would even take the time to think about this, IMO it is what it is and you cannot fight what mother nature or genetics have intended for your children.

Scouts and coaches take into consideration at 17,18,19 if the player still has a baby face, which means the longer he has it, the longer he will go until his body reaches its intended mark.

Control what you can, teach your kids to eat good healthy foods and snacks, getting rest needed for growing bodies and making sure that you speak to your sons/daughters about alcohol and tobacco use.

When my son (21) was home for the holidays I kept looking at him and thinking, "From the neck down he looks like an adult. His face looks like he's sixteen. One time I asked him to turn sideways then said, "You might want to shave in the next couple of days before that becomes noticeable" and chuckled. His response started with "bite." I was the same way. I was carded until I was thirty-five.

At 29 son finally can grow a full beard, not that had anything to do with his actual height, but I do believe that 6'3" really is 6'4" after all is said and done.

Again, it really doesn't really matter, work with what you have to the best of your ability and good things will happen.
