Big Congrats to District 5-5A Playoff Teams !!!!

All Three Are Still Living the Dream clap

Forgive me for those outside 5-5A but allow me to recap and maybe gloat just a little:

Keller (District Champ)- Sweeps Highly Regarded Lewisville and Their Two Aces. Keller continues to pound the ball up and down the line-up and Stafford is nails on the mound in the clincher.

P.S. KD, you should be real proud of #2 son. IMO, he was the Farmers toughest out and best all around player. Their other Big Boy gets the most pub, but I'd have Choate on my team any day. He will be fun to watch next year.

Southlake Carroll - Eliminates Higher Ranked District 8-5A Champs Allen and Move On to Face a Tough Flower Mound Squad. Way to Go Dragons!!! Amazing job by Coach Hughes and these guys are hitting on all cylinders - literally.

Colleyville Heritage - Eliminates FWST Number 1 Ranked, District 7-5A Champ Arlington Martin. In games 2 and 3 their bats were red hot and they got serious 'gut check' performances from their two aces, Lane and Deleo. I was at the game today and the Panthers just would not let Martin in the game from the 1st inning. Top to bottom they are POUNDING the ball.

Also, I spoke with one of the Colleyville players before the game and he said after Thursday night's whooping at the hands of Martin, during the post game hand shake the Martin players were saying "Welcome to Round 2". You know, it's great to be confident but when you get COCKY, the baseball gods have a way of HUMBLING you.

Moral Lesson - win with GRACE, lose with GRACE. After Thursday night's thumping, I saw some posts implying the series was over ... well, it is now for Martin. Way to go Panthers.

Their victory sets up a tense, crosstown rivalry showdown with my beloved Indians. It should be fun and I know both teams will have their game faces on. Can't wait!!!!

Also, I'm going to go out on a limb and predict that a 5-5A squad will make it to the Regional Semi-Finals Big Grin. I know; that sounds like a KD prediction!

Having said all that, in my admittedly BIASED and somewhat humble opinion, there's no tougher Metroplex district (upper half teams) than 5-5A. Other districts may have a stronger top team (Mansfield, Newman Smith, etc.) but it'd be tough to find a district with 3 TOP Quality teams to match Keller, SLC and Colleyville. Plus, throw in a stellar Denton Ryan team who didn't make the playoffs - wow.

On a final note, HUGE CONGRATS to those mighty Northwest Texans!!!! Way to go party !!! Keep the GOOD TIMES rolling - good luck this next week.

Sorry for the long post but it's been a FUN weekend. Time to get HUMBLE again angel.

Must be something in the water in NE Tarrant county.

Colleyville impressed the hell out of me, coming back the way they did. They are peaking at the perfect time and will really be tough to beat next week.

SLC, the same for them. Early on, Coach Hughes was telling people he'd be happy with a .500 record. Guess the boys really came to play against a solid Allen team!
Thanks, frogdawg,

Northwest gets a little overlooked, but WOW what a ride so far. It looks like we will get CK and Highland Park in the next round...what a challenge!

But this is a special gorup of kids with tremendous leadership. I sit here each night and soak up this experience. The T-Bird kid and I talk about what this means, but I doubt he realizes how much fun this is until he is much older.

Anyway, thanks for thinking about the Texans and GO INDIANS!

You guys shouldn't suck up to each other much longer because mansfield is still in and will beat all of teams left to a pulp. The only exception is northwest and thats because they are 4a. luck of the draw i say

CoCo - Your insight is so enlightening. You always post with intelligence and integrity. Could you please give us an update on the Biscuits?

It is funny you say that about what the Martin players were saying in the handshake line. When Martin beat Cedar Hill in the district opener, the Martin pitcher that got the win said to the Cedar Hill head coach, "Welcome to district coach!"

Wonder what was said Saturday?

I attended all 3 games and I agree, Colleyville hits the ball 1-9 and that was the difference in the series. Not to mention when their #1 and 2 was on the mound it made a huge difference.

Should be a great series against Keller.

I think I am pretty safe in saying I played longer than you did. And if you did play longer than me, then shame on you for not learning to respect the game and having a higher knowledge of what goes on in baseball. The best team does not always win. Baseball guys know this and do not make absolute predictions about who will go on. Ask the '88 A's or the 2005 Jaguars. It's baseball. I think its great you want to contribute, but your credibility is already in question because of your early post about who you are. Add insight, not feelings.

Oh, by the way, the "vanlandingspam" is funny. I just can't tell if that's creativity or your normal bad spelling. Enlighten me.
