Manny "Bryce who" Machado? Oh please.

There's no question about Showalter performing a masterful job.

Yet when A's knock the O's out of the wild card game, Melvin becomes the front-runner.

Stock rising
It hurts to have to root for the dread Sox, who absolutely fielded a JV team Monday night against the Yankees and last night couldn't hold the lead in the 9th. It hurts worse when they give away the first game and blow the second, although give the Yankees credit for playing excellent clutch baseball.

I had to get to bed after the Orioles win and the Sox were tied up going to the 10th, but here's my wife's note to me on the kitchen table when I got up at 4 a.m. to go to work:

"Ibanez walk-off single, bottom 12. Miller walked 2 batters with 2 outs. Red Sox s*u*c*k*"

I couldn't agree with that wonderful woman more.

As much as it give me a bad taste in my mouth, I'll be rooting for the Red Sox tonight (or am I just rooting against the Yankees?). I even stayed up late last night hoping to the "see" the Sox pull one out. Arrrgghhhhh!!!!

The best the O's can do now is win and hope the Yankee's lose to force a one game playoff for the AL East.
Just learned that IF, the O's can get past the Rangers, who unfortunately have played home run derby with the O's every time they meet, we get the Yankees, which I like a lot.

The only problems:

1. I bought tickets to a wild card game in Baltimore-how any months before my credit card is re-credited?

2. I have tickets to "game 2" and "game 3", and have no clue when those will be IF the O's get there.

Tampa Bay better hide or lock up financially some of those arms as I suspect the evil Empire is just waiting until some of those guys are free agents.

Regardless of how much further the Orioles proceed there's nothing any arrogant Yankees fan can do to pee on their parade. The Orioles came a long way this year with a young team.

I don't want to hear about how the Yankees make the post season all the time. With the money the Yankees spend any year they don't win it all is a complete failure. So if the Yankees don't win it all this year expect a shower.

My hats off to the Orioles. I thought no way they'd stay in the race in the second half and boy was I wrong. What a great year they had, stayed with the Yankees all year, took them to the very end and gave the Yanks all they could handle.

You Oriole fans have lots to be proud of and looks like they're back on the map.

What a series!

On to the ALCS! Go Yanks!

Despite losing the ALDS, the O's have no reason to hang their heads. As posted, they hung with the Yankees down the stretch and into the playoffs. This is a different O's team. The old team would have collapsed after the All-Star Break.

They'll be back.

I was so looking forward to a possible Beltway Series.

One last time - "Let's Go O's!"
Chris Davis might be most undisciplined and worst Big League hitter I have ever seen. He either swings at everything or just closes his eyes and hopes. Baltimore needs a hitting coach in the worst way.

That said, it was a great year and unfortunate it could not continue past a Yankees team that just does not look very good beyond Derek Jeter, Robinson Cano and Russell Martin.
