I play varsity for a program in the Northeast and it always makes me mad about the lack of fan interest at my high school and the community for the high school baseball program.
The baseball team at my high school has had a history of winning. The team won the title in '97,'98, and '99, and was a runner up in '96. During this decade the team has only had one losing year to this point and has made many deep playoff runs.
Yet every home game we get 20-30 people a game if we're lucky and more than half those fans are parents wathcing there kids play, there is barely any students at the games or anyone from the ouside community. It seems many people don't do to the games because they think its boring, but in reality they are really missing exciting action. What does it take to get fans interested in going to the baseball games?

I, as Coach, put up an announcement that I was looking for a spirited group of HS girls to help design and implement a lot of FUN at our games so we can hopefully get more people out there. Seven girls came forward and I made them all Promotions Managers. They took it upon themselves to meet once a week. They've been able to wrangle some funding. They have researched some of the fun things that the minor league clubs do. They're going to play upbeat 'summertime' music between innings. Supposedly they are working on some cheers! They've put posters up all over the school and have decorated each players locker with paint, a photo, etc. I don't know if it'll make a difference, but they're giving it all they've got!

First. Welcome to the hsbbweb Smile

Second. Join the club. Kids that love baseball don't play for for those in the stands - although they appreciate the attention. They play because they love the game - no more.
I do love the game and play because I love to play, but some support would be nice especially since where I go the Baseball team is one of the top three sports teams, the others being football and basketball and they get rediculous attention compared to baseball.

In high school you represent your school, but are you really representing your school when barely anyone shows up to games?
