BS.

If you are not passionate about ONE team your not a TRUE Chicago baseball fan.

The VAST majority of those "Chicago Fan" types are not PASSIONATE.

It doesn't make them (or you) a bad person...it just makes them more like a NY or LA fan, imo.

Btw, I'll give you 1908 but for the record and specificity purposes, 06 and 07 were both more than 99 years ago. To me this proves you are really a cub fan regardless of how magnanimous you pretend to be!............LOLOLOLOLOL

Realistically the Soriano signing is a great move by the Cubs but they still have some obvious problems:

1. The starting pitching other than Zambrano is questionable at best, and to be even more honest, incredibly soft. If Prior is healthy and can pitch through a hang nail, maybe they could finish .500.

2. Adjusting to the new style of play. I am a big fan of Sweet Lou. He will do a great job. If he can get Aramis to actually play hard, I will be amazed. Aramis is incredibly talented but suffered tremendously with Baker allowing him to do as he pleases.

3. The lineup has 3-4 dangerous hitters and the rest is marginal at best. DeRosa is a nice signing but I still don't believe Murton is an everday player.

4. Shaky bullpen. The Cotts sign is impressive but will he be moved to the rotation?

5. Kerry Wood-When will they just release him??? I think this saga has to end before the Cubs can ever be good again. I'm convinced the Cubs Front Office just sits around and watches his 20 K performance against the Astros over and over again. I know we just signed him for a minimal salary but it has become downright embarrassing to watch this saga continue. By the way, how many pitchers do the Cubs have who have had serious arm surgeries???? Wood, Miller, who else???? What's scary is that they count on these guys.

They should be a better team under Pinella but not even close to a contender yet.
TR....I lived and worked your grimy east coast streets for a portion of my life.

You need to be enlightened...so read the lead story by Jim Caple today on ESPN on-line. He calls it like it is in baseball...and baseball is life.

I thank my lucky stars I managed to escape the NJ slime and the NY low life's. I'll forever love the great city of Boston, the people there are almost as fine as Chicago.

That said, you have absolutely no idea, even after running your mouth many times on the Illinois Forum, what Chicago baseball is all about. Banter escapes you. So shut up!

The midwest is superior to the rest of the country and we freely admit it.

When it comes to a common dislike, it's your territory the rest of the country tries to avoid.
