How many errors?

Tough one...

Is the catcher backing up first base on a wild throw and making a subsequent throw to second an ordinary effort play? If so, score the double error. Otherwise, single two base error on short stop.

Some of these are scored, HTBT for Had to Be There, since none of us saw the play, you have to call it yourself.

You’re right on, and it happens a lot more than people think. The best rule of thumb I’ve found personally is, score it the way it looks to at the time. Then later on where there’s some time to reflect on what happened, after considering what happened change it if necessary. I’ve found that most of the time it stays just the way it was.

I agree, HTBT but I will add my two cents...

As described, the runner would have been out on the throw to first, so that is an error. Now (IMO) it becomes tricky because I don't like to assume that a 'good' throw would have gotten the runner at second. Since the runner was attempting to advance
to second on the SS's bad throw, if he makes it, I will record that as a two-base error and ignore the second bad throw since there was no further advancement.
