I need one towel just for crying
My son, when home re-used his towels. Now with I have two 18yr old twin daughters who waterski in dirty lakes, teach swimming lessons in chlorine pools 3 days a week, dance 3 nights a week, have hair 3/4 of the way down their back, are clean freaks who shower twice a day and usually can be seen wearing 3 different outfits a day besides a dresser for swimming suits only. Marcos had her shoes these girls have I'll bet 15-20 suits apiece! Now factor in my wife who is a Hospice RN, (I'll let you know figure out how she feel after work) and I'll bet I go through 50 big towels a week. I do towels at the laundry mat on Sat mornings along with my clothes, I feel the pain.

Wow rz...going to the laundry every Saturday morning...that's admirable. But don't go and get weird on us...it can happen...you're the one who brought up Imelda and her shoes!
My son is 13, nowhere close to shaving and still refuses to use the same towel twice! Uses towell, throws it on the bathroom floor twice a day so I guess right around 14. Maybe it's time I put my foot down! 
We have four of 'em that do the same as yours IB...I put my foot down, followed by the other foot, repeating this procedure nearly two dozen times and not once did either foot find the floor...only terry cloth.

Solution to all this, instead of towels buy your son one of those terrycloth robes. My son uses it all the time, whether it is still wet or dry, after a shower. Once in a while I wash it! or he does when he thinks about it. Works great!
