Okay, heres the situation.

All of my high school life, I've been training to go to university as a pitcher, and that is what I was prepared to do. Recently, I attended a major league scouting bureau camp, and have had the scout mention to me that if I wanted to persure a career in baseball after college/university, it would be with my bat and not my arm.

Now, that was a bit of a shock to hear, but playing baseball (and continuing to play baseball) are what matters, so I realize that I'll have to go with what my best abilities are.

My question is that, I've been recruited to play at a smaller JuCo closer to home (DII), and recently, one of my coaches has also made contact with a JuCo in Iowa, which is also a DII.

Since this will be mainly the first time in my career focusing on being an entirely a hitter, what should I be looking for in these situations. Should I go to the JuCo which is closer to home, and in honesty will probably give me a lot more reps and AB's. Or should I go to a school that even though is in the same division, will probably have much stiffer competition, and with myself being a "raw" player, might not see time right away.

Basically, the question is the level of talent being played at, or is it the reps and AB's that I should be looking for to develop.

Thanks, any insight would be appriciated.

How do you know this for sure? To me it seems that no matter where you go since you are giving up on your pitching career and becoming a full fledged hitter you will have to prove yourself regardless of where you play.

Just out of curiosity what camp was it? I might of seen you play.

v-mani,
Without a doubt, I would go to the place where you will play. You only have two years of eligibility in JuCo. I'm sure your experience would turn sour if you were faced with the reality of not playing much. Remember, many schools (especially competitive ones) recruit more players than they need. They can't play everyone. If you are good enough, someone will find you and give you the opportunity to play at the next level. In the meantime, play and enjoy your experience. Best of luck to you.
