I play 3rd base and I'm a pretty built person but throwing the ball from 3rd to first i feel that i dont have the velocity on the ball that i should have. Could it because im using a wrong grip for my arm slot? I seem to throw the ball faster with a 2 seam grip rather than a 4 seam grip which i throw now. Tell me your opinions and facts.

stick with the 4 seam grip because it will not sail when you throw it. i agree that a 2 seam grip may feel better but when you put all that spin on the ball it can go any way and make your throw maybe a little off. the best way to practice is by throwing with the 4 seam grip all them time and if you feel you throw it slower then make up for it with good footwork and quicker hands....something that can always be worked on. thanks
2-seamers seem to jump out of the hand more for me too, but 4 seamers carry so much more. Personally, I tend to throw a changeup grip a lot, unless it's a closer play. My hands are kinda small, so when I only put two fingers on top the side ones aren't all the way off the side, so my ball tails a lot, and is hard to control, so if it's a routine play I slip the third on to get more control. It's a really bad habit that I'm slowly trying to break, but it's difficult.

As for better throwing, follow your throw. Throw the ball with your legs and let your momentum carry you across the infield. It really helps throw straighter and harder with less effort.
There is only ONE way to grip the ball as an infielder, and that is a four seam grip. Learn to spin the ball to a four seam grip every time you catch it when warming up, taking infield, etc. Pretty soon, it will become second nature. I'm not sure what level you play at, but when you get to High School, you'll be expected to know this and be proficient in throwing this way all the time. It is a very basic fundamental that you have to be consistent with before you get to High School.
