Brent Strom, former Major League pitcher and pitching coach for the Houston Astros and Kansas City Royals and former pitching coordinator for the Washington Nationals will address Major League preparation for Minor League players and the use of the fastball.
Jerry Weinstein, pitching coach at Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo and former Olympic assistant coach will present a series of talks focused upon preparation of the amateur pitcher for professional baseball as well as strength and kettlebell methodics.
Perry Husband, former College World Series Div. 2 MVP and Minnesota Twins draftee, will present a state-of-the art program on refinement of timing and anticipation through his “Hitting Is a Guess” program. He will also present “Filthy: The Science of Effective Velocity,” an innovative approach to pitching and hitting strategy.
Ron Wolforth, of Houston, TX-based Pitching Central and author of the nation’s #1 Pitching Program, “The Athletic Pitcher™”, has become synonymous with ‘velocity creation’, arm speed and maximizing arm health and durability. His program has assisted hundreds of high school and college pitchers by adding up to 15 mph on to their pitching speed. Also his teaching has been instrumental in assisting 27 athletes to being drafted and over 40 to college scholarships. He will speak specifically on the complex issues of arm care and preparation and tackle “The Pitching Battle America is Losing: Why kids with access to better tools, better nutrition, better facilities, better equipment and more of everything are losing ground to Latin American and Pacific Rim athletes for time on the pitching mound.”
Robert Stock, 2006 AFLAC All-American & 2006 Baseball America Youth Player of the Year, will be displaying Sports Engineering and Training Products principles in his Sunday skill display.
Mike Young, PhD (ABD) is a Level 1, 2, and 3 Instructor for USA Track & Field and also serves as the Director of Technology, Biomechanics Chairperson, and Vertical Jumps Chairperson for USATF's Coaches’ Education division. In addition to being a noted biomechanist who has worked with Olympic and professional athletes in baseball, football, and track and field, Mike is also an NSCA Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist as well as a certified USA Weightlifting Club Coach. Mike will be lecturing on elite sprint development for the 60 yd dash and optimal methods of strength training.
Will Wu, PhD (ABD) is the developer of result-dependent practice and well known in the field of skill acquisition. Will knows many techniques that can be successfully employed to enhance movement memory and accuracy. He will expound upon focus of attention and practice scheduling to maximize time efficiency and skill acquisition for coaches and players.
