My 14 y/o son is a pitcher and is quite good. He is now being considered for the varsity team at his high school. His dream is to make it to the big leagues some day, "after college." Even though it's early, I'd like to begin understanding the different types of college baseball leagues and how one needs to prepare to move in that direction (e.g. Next steps, etc). Any information you can provide as preparation steps would be appreciated. Thanks. Matt

Two things first:

01-- GRADES---GRADES--GRADES

02-- at 14 yrs of age let him concentrate on improving his game.

The next step for your son is to become a contributor on the varsity not just "being considered"

Good things come to those who wait and now is a "waiting period"

Read the timeline as noted above but until he is a varsity contributor he does not have much to show college coaches.

He is still young and you have plenty of time.
