My son was finally making some progress with the team. He is play summer ball the the HS team is working out hard. Had sign up to be the Head Coaches TA for weight training along with having his class next year. Then after a good game yesterday the coach tells the kids he's leaving for another coaching job. This after getting mad at kids who wanted to play club ball for other teams. Next year should be interesting we have no idea who the next coach could be. All I could tell my son is keep working hard and make a good impression on the new coach.
Anybody have any good experiences of this type of situation?

Son lost his coach, 33 years experience, the week before his senior year practice began, to a political move.In fact it put the coach in the hospital and nearly caused his death.

AD made the right move--son and Asst Principal and AD on the search committee---bottom line was no impact because son got scholarship to New Mexico State not a simple feat for a kid from a losing program in Westchester County NY

Just keep going forward and be a bit more proactive
Just happened to my daughter. She grew up on the varsity softball field. I coached baseball and our diamonds are next to each other. So, when my daughter got out of school, she always brought her equipment and went and "practiced" with the varsity. She loves her HS coach more than he will ever know. It has been very hard for her. She still won't talk about it and kind of feels betrayed since he's leaving her for her senior year. I understand what he is doing since he never gets a chance to watch his son play who will be a senior next year. There is that anxiety about who will be the next coach. Every coach in the system resigned. My daughter's team has won their conference and 20+ games every year for the last 10 years. It is a very good program. I'm sure the parents will all be watching to see who applies. I know one person that will if the right candidates don't apply. ;-)

I'm kind of hoping it's not someone local. We only moved here a couple years ago and found at time it worked against my son that he didn't grow up here. It's better now so hopefully it won't matter as long as he's a good baseball coach. There is only one other coach on the existing staff that I'd be exited about. I guess we'll see what happens.

I'm just glad my son decided he would do both the club team and the hs team despite this coach not wanting him to.
