Please don't take offense, but how do you determine this stuff? I personally know a couple of your top prospects by state and come on. One kid played JV last season and couldn't start in his summer team while the other kid is average at best.

I want my son to go to your showcase this fall, so I'm not trying to make you mad, I just don't understand how you rate these kids.

The list is not "mine"--it comes out of Collegeiate Baseball --input comes from HS coaches and scouts around the country as well as programs such as ours.

Keep in mind a kid may have played JV last year and this year his coach projects him to be a strong player on his team.

As for making me mad ---do not worry about that but I am not running a showcase this fall--- we have two events this year --one in Norwich CT June 28-30 and one in Binghamton NY August 9 thru 11

Also I would not get too upset about any list because the proof of it all comes when the kid does or does not get interest from colleges.

Have you sent in a nomination form for your son?

TRHit,

I e-mialed you a week or so ago and we were going to talk on the phone. I know I'm probably coming off like a jerk here, but I don't mean to at all. The August showcase is the one I am referring to. I did go to the website and fill out the forms.

I'm not upset about the list at all, I was just surprised when I saw two of the names. I guess marketing your kid is really worthwhile as neither of these two guys are spectacular. My son is a Jr. this year and we are just starting all of this right now.

Remember too, that the coaches need to submit the info to the magazine. Some do. Some don't.
That may explain some of the descrepencies you see in your area. I understand what you are saying. Smile

You are so correct-- many fine players do not get recognized because their coaches do not send in the info

No problem

I mentioned this to a dad last night that it might be a good idea for both parties, showcases and parent/player, that the ID used on this site be noted on the nomination or registration form so we can make the link-- instead of being in the dark

Chill and TR are correct. In addition to coaches, don't underestimate the power of the press in local sports sections. Seems like coaches and local sportswriters gravitate to certain kids, whose abilities are even mediocre in some cases. In most cases these "favorites" garner more publicity for what they eat for dinner, than leading hitters, pitchers and performers on their High School teams recieve. I see names on these lists who simply do not belong above some whose names are missing. I have coached for 10 years and as a huge HS and College fan.. have seen most of the players in the Northeast play, at one time or another. I can only speak for this area but the State listings are ludicrous in some instances.
