HS Sub Rule

The pinch runner is a substitute and becomes the new DH.

Under NFHS can't you re-enter the DH for his next at bat?

The way I understand it you can re-enter once for a starter regardless of their position at any point in the game. But you cannot re-enter a sub who came in for someone.

Is that correct?

That is true, the DH is a starter and has re-entry rights. If he still has them he can come back in. The sub is done except to CR.

Thanks, so he the DH can reenter as DH once.

The DH is considered a starter, so he can be removed and reinserted 1 time, just like all the other starters.

Does this vary from state to state? I was thinking that a courtesy runner had to be an eligible player that had not participated in the game in any other capacity?

No, I'm an idiot. I was thinking SPR from LL. In HS the CR has to not been in the game.
As far as reentry of the DH he can reenter once in the same spot but it could be on defense not just DH. Say you have the person he is DHing for either pinch hit or pinch run for the DH he can come back as a defensive player but the other has to leave.

What you asked is true about the re-entry. Sorry I didn't answer more thouroughly but you didn't ask about re-entry in the original post so I just answered about the substitution.
