I just read this online and my jaw dropped. Very exciting news for our area and for the southeast. I hope it all works out and gets done!

Anyone have any thoughts pro/con on this?

I think it will be very beneficial economically to our area but what about to youth sports?

Does spending/building like this have any impact to how our youth or parents look at the game(s)?

I only hope it gets built so my son (senior) and daughter (6th grade) get to play there.

Actually the new Perfect Game baseball complex is the centerpiece of this project. 16 lighted, all turf fields with high tech scouting and recruiting capabilities.

Plans are to provide a world class site for players and teams with a major emphasis on providing scouts and college recruiters the most efficient and comfortable experience in amateur baseball. There really is nothing comparable in amateur baseball anywhere in the world.

The article is not 100% accurate as PG will continue to do events all over the country. And even though the complex is in the Southeast it will draw players and teams from Coast to Coast.

Obviously this is a huge project and details should be finalized very soon. We are very excited about the possibility of working closely with three MLB managers like Fredi Gonzalez (Braves), Ned Yost (Royals), and the legendary Bobby Cox.
Well... the buzz around here has really been interesting. It took a few days for the word to really get out and for people to start to digest the news.

Most of what I am hearing in our area is very positive. People are very excited about the economic impact a facility like this will have in our county. Right now, the new businesses and jobs this will create are very much needed. However, people are not quite sure how it will impact the baseball in our area as it is already very good.

I have read a few Ga sports forums that are predicting the death of East Cobb baseball, but I find that to be silly. The program is just too good. I think some confuse PG and EC and think they are the same or coupled. EC puts on their own tournaments and will still draw the top talent in the area.

The biggest and most valid issue I have seen raised is the impact this will have on the High Schools in the ATL area. The claim is because the PG tournaments had to use the local HS fields to host games, the money they recieved from this will now be gone. For some programs, it could be a loss of a few thousand dollars. Also, the cost of the PG tournament (entry fees and gate) are typically higher then most tournaments and now it will all go to them and none to the HS programs. It makes paying those fees harder for some to swallow (this is not my opinion). While I am a big supporter of HS atheltics, I don't see this as a big issue. They will figure out how to raise the money if they need to. I know we do at our school.

IMO, I think too much money is being paid by us crazy parents for summer travel ball with a very questionalable or minimal payback for a great number of participants. However, I do believe that the PG tournaments and showcases are head and shoulders above any others out there right now. The bang for the buck is greatest at these events so having these nice facilities to make them even better is wonderful.

I am really looking forward to seeing some great baseball played 15 mins from my house! I just wish my son was 3 or 4 years younger so I could watch him play there. Of course, I'll just have to settle for watching him play on some college field somewhere. One the plus side, I will have a chance to see my daughter play some s@@@@r there.
There are still some details to work out. This should be done very soon, hopefully there won't be any snags. We want all the bells and whistles possible including the best restrooms and best concessions. The scout towers will be high tech. Coaches and scouts will be able to watch all 16 fields at once on monitors in the tower. Cameras will be at all fields and radar readings displayed. There's much more, but everything should be released soon.

Regarding kids going off to college before the complex opens. College tournaments will be played during the spring. We feel with our connections this will become a distination for many college spring trips. The location is great, the scouting is there and the turf fields will all but assure that games will not be cancelled. We already have initial interest from many of the top DIs as well as many small colleges and Jucos.

We will continue to work closely with the East Cobb program and even use their complex. This project will do nothing but make the East Cobb program stronger yet.

There is no reason to increase prices. In fact, people will save money by not havi9ng to travel from one sight to another. We will bring in more revenue based on volume. We will save money by being stationed at the location. No more travel for 60-70 staff members. Also we will continue doing events all over the country.

Those familair with the location understand just how perfect this place is. Emerson, Cartersville, and Bartow County are going to be very happy.

BTW, yes the base paths will be adjustable and there will be portable fences.

It's exciting to be partnered with Bobby Cox, Ned Yost and Fredi Gonzalez. The Miracle Field is also an important component to the project. They're planning a bridge over I75 that will allow access directly from the complex to the lake, even by golf cart. Hotels have already committed and will be located right next to the baseball complex (short walking distance). Lots of restaurants and other shops.

It's really hard to explain all of this right now. I'm sure there will be much more news once all the final details are worked out.

I would like to thank everyone for all the nice thoughts. Ideas are always welcome, the plan is to make this place the very best in every way for teams, players, fans, college recruiters and MLB scouts.
