That's a tough question. My older son is a catcher and did all of his showcases with an injured shoulder. He was never at his best but still ended up with some D3 offers. My younger son has a bad elbow. For the most part it doesn't seem to be hurting his throws too much, although he was clocked at 83 mph in early June and only 79 mph today. At the end of the day, I think you have to decide if you can play through it to the point that you are making as good as an impression as you want to make.

IMO, if you are having pain, shut it down! I agree with EaglesDad. If you don't have enough time to be at your best (pain free) don't go! There will always be time for another Showcase. If your pain doesn't go away in a couple of days, see a Doctor!
No showcase now is as important as a possible future playing baseball. Have your problem checked out now. Do not continue to throw with pain. Pain is your body telling you something is wrong. I threw 95mph out of HS, hurt my shoulder in pro ball, continued to throw hurt, had several cortisone injections, had surgery (torn biceps tendon, rotator cuff, & labrum), went back to pitching a year later and threw mid 80's tops. It's just not worth it, believe me.

My son wanted to go to a PG showcase in September, but has a rotator cuff problem and has been undergoing therapy. He played thru half the high school season with the injury before saying anything about it,as well as a broken finger on his throwing hand. He assured me he'd be fine by September and wanted me to sign him up. But Iknow wether he was comletely healed or not by showcase time, he'd say he was fine. I'd rather wait for him to be healthy, and at his best.
Agreed. We never mentioned the injury issue with our oldest and let the chip fall where they fell. Never an issue with the youngest since it only had an effect yesterday and may simply be the result of pitching an inning the day before. Nevertheless, in an abundance of caution we're having it looked at tomorrow before he goes off to do any more showcases/camps. If the doc says shut it down, then what the doc says goes.
