Game was played in about 1 hour 20 minutes. Scoreless through 4 innings, Hylton picked up their first run in the bottom of the 5th after a leadoff double by the right fielder who then scored on a single to right by the Hylton pitcher. Nansemond threatened in the top of the 6th after Trevor Riggs reached on an error and stole 2nd. On the ensuing sac bunt, Riggs ran too far past third and was tagged out on a throw from 1st to 3rd. Hylton added an insurance run in the bottom of th 6th with three consecutive hits with 2 outs. Bettinger closed it out in the 7th after a leadoff 2B by Zach Vann by retiring next three, two by strikeout.

I think Go Dawgs was being generous by not mentioning the appearance of home town cookin' from the men in blue. True NR didn't hit as they usually do, but a call here or there could have changed the games outcome.

No doubt, those Seniors have carried that team since they were Sophmores. They had a great run over that last two years and should be very proud. They changed they way baseball was played at NRHS!

There was one questionable call at the plate in the 3rd inning. While we gave blue plenty of static at the time, I think mentioning that after the game is over is making excuses. Hylton played a better game and their pitcher held NR to 3 hits. They also cashed in on scoring opportunities while Nansemond River ran themselves out of innings with baserunning errors that have plagued them all post season.
