I buy a pair every season, and, every year, about half way through, they dry out and get really hard and uncomfortable to wear. Is there any way I can keep this from happening in the future or fix it if it can't be prevented?

make sure you are hanging them up to let them air out this will help a lil
I grew up in a very dry climate, Las Vegas, and what we would do to prevent this was to put our sweaty gloves in a zip lock bag. This kept them moist (although smelly, lol).
Try something more synthetic, like Mizuno techfire gloves (I use these) they are great, and always feel good regardless of the weather.
