We spend a lot of time on this board talking about our sons; I hope it's OK if I blow my own horn for a post. My book, "Keeping Score" is about one divorced mom's first summer with her 9-year-old son playing travel ball. You'll laugh, you'll cry, you'll scream at the umpire. Here's the link; I hope you check it out! http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00E6GHQYM

Though some may be skeptical that you're self-promoting on this site, as it happens I'm at a small town hotel post-baseball-tournament this evening with a kindle and nothing to read. The 16YO son isn't super chatty, so I was happy to see your post, and really happy it's at Amazon for only $3.99. So, you just sold your first one here, and thank you for your love of the game. Happy to support creative efforts from fellow baseball parents...
LeftyMom;
also purchase your book. My friend from SF is the Professor of Baseball at USF and a writer of baseball books. I will share your book.
Bob Williams
I'm not skeptical.
LHPMom2012 joined five years ago. I don't think it was to promote a book she hadn't written yet. That puts her in a different category than the folks who join and immediately start plugging goods and services.
I consider this notice to be more of an update on her baseball journey than an unauthorized ad.
Best wishes,
Plus it sets a good precedent for when JH's novel and gotwood's coffee table book come out!
Thanks, all! I was hoping I wasn't breaking the rules by posting about it. I didn't even mention that if you read the book, your son will automatically gain 5 mph on his fastball and 10 mph in bat speed! I just don't know of any other forums that reach so many baseball parents, and I think fellow baseball parents would be more interested in the book than everyday readers of "women's fiction." Although I may try to reach both markets with my next book, "50 Shades of Blue," about the oversexed umpire.
Totally agree with Swampboy. One of the few times we have a gripe around here is when a first time poster is trying to sell something and that clearly is not the case here.
I am proud of LHPMom2012's achievement as an author. At 3.99, I may just pick up a kindle-copy for myself!
Hahaha 50 Shades of Blue!
OK, now I'm going to buy the book because you are obviously a clever person!

I'd suggest reading LHPMom2012's novel and gotwood's coffee table book long before reading anything I write.
Ordered! Sounds like a fun read, best of luck to you!!!!
Just finished it, it's very entertaining! Left me wanting to find out more about what happens next to the Saints, with Kevin, Sam, etc. When's the sequel?
Thanks so much! I have to sell a few more books before I can think about a sequel!
I can't wait to buy your book on my Kindle, it will be the perfect beach read for a quick day trip to Rhode Island this week
This is also good timing, since we just dropped off my college freshman "for real" and our youth/HS BBall days have ended.
Can I pre-order 50 Shades? lol
Congrats LHP mom!
Josh, I'll pre-order yours too!
LHP Mom;
Finished your book yesterday and I thoroughly enjoyed the story.
Laverne and Shirley, mothers with 11 year old sons have also read the book and now they are observing the other parents with a new mental microscope.
Thank you;
Bob
I am about half way through. No doubt in my mind this is a true story. Anyone involved in the youth sports scene has been thru most of what is described in the book. An excellent read.
Thanks so much, everyone. If you have a sec, would you mind going to Amazon and leaving me a review? Apparently if you get a certain number of good reviews, Amazon will start promoting your book. I don't know what that magic number is, and other than posting here, I haven't done any real promoting. I've been leaving that up to my mom. Apparently your kid is never too old to brag about. ;-)
Just wanted to let everyone know if you didn't get around to reading my book but you really wanted to, only you spend all your time in the car driving your son to baseball games and practice and only listen to audio books now...
KEEPING SCORE is now an audio book! And there's nothing your son can't hear, so you can listen to it with him in the car! And Amazon gave me about 10 codes to get the book free so you don't even have to pay for it ... just send me a private message and I'll send you the instructions.
I hope everyone's having a wonderful baseball season!

LOL, that describes me exactly! I got it on Audio and LOVED it!!!! Thanks for writing about the crazy world of Travel Ball....my own mother thinks I am in a cult when I describe my son's schedule, nice to know the "cult" is nationwide and in book form!
Glad you brought the post up to date so it showed up in the current section. Just finished the download, leaving on travel tomorrow and can't wait to start the read.
Thanks!
Thank you!! I still have a couple of these free credits if people are still interested in listening ... just private message me and I'll send you the instructions ...
LHPMom2012,
I just sent you a PM Dialog. Thanks in advance.
I sent one as well. thanks for the offer! I listen to audio all the time when I travel
