After I throw, I run a mile and one half and then have an hour long ice session( 15 min on, 15 min off etc..). Is it correct to run before you ice, or should I be icing and then running. Is there an actual scientific study on it, or is it just opinion type of thing. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

When visiting colleges last fall, that was one of the questions we asked the trainers. We got different answers, however running is the key to quicker recovery.
The trainer at my son's school believes in a short icing directly after pitching, helps reduce any swelling, though she knows there is theories on it. Because it has been a routine for my son forever, he does it. He also ices directly after pen for a few minutes.
Seems to be a personal preference to use ice or not. Son's routine is to run right after pitching, then an ice wrap with compression on the shoulder and arm. He says he sees quicker recovery than just running alone. He combines this game day routine with an in-season training plan that is designed for before & after pitch-days.
