we will be finishing up our 2013 showcase schedule soon as our organization travels to East Cobb then takes a month off. On various message boards I am seeing lots of threads on ID camps. Since we have a month off should we try to do one or two of these in August? Is it too early since he is a 2013 and has not finished growing and filled out even tho he is 5ft 11 and 155?

You live in a very good area for HS baseball (NC). I doubt "ID"-ing of your son is going to be a problem if its warranted...whether you go or not.

But these are well-run events and if your budget can handle it and you want to see how your son stacks up...go for it. There is a saying out there that you'll have to think about honestly. Goes something like this...'Attend a camp/showcase and you might get exposure, but you also might get exposed.'

Since I believe you've got at least a year before anything really serious begins (college contacts, etc...), if it were me, I'd make sure my son has the basics in good order (in good shape, good foot speed and/or arm speed, hitting tuned up, etc...).
