I am hoping for some clarification regarding a "Grant In Aid" offer.  Our son was offered and accepted a position on an in state team.  The coach offered some money as a "Grant In Aid" and it does list that the money is coming from baseball, but it is not 25%, nor is it an NLI.   We assume that our son is basically a preferred walk on, with Academic/In State  money + the Grant In Aid.  We are thrilled with this, we just want to understand exactly what this means.  We would appreciate any clarification!

A Grant in Aid is another term for "scholarship." Athletic grants in aid are accompanied by the NCAA's National Letter of Intent, while academic or merit grants in aid are not. It sounds like your son received the merit or academic form; and, therefore, would be considered a preferred walk-on.

Congratulations and best of luck to him!
