With The Cubs playing the best ball in Chicago, it's too bad we couldn't switch teams because with the so(s)x struggling, The Cubs would definitley have the better chance of getting to The WS. At least there are good signs for next year.
Just for fun, let's compare The Cubs and the sox.
Starting pitching: Edge, Cubs. Zambrano is clearly the best pitcher in Chicago, maybe baseball. With Hill, Marmol, and now O'Malley emerging the Cubs have the better staff than the sox who have only Garland to count on and he is just better than average.
Bullpen: Big Edge, Cubs. No comment needed.
Catching: Edge, Cubs. Barrett the better hitter, fighter and handler of pitchers than the punk, who doesn't look like a genius anymore now that his pitchers have fallen back to earth.
Hitting: Even. When the sox are hitting off mediocre pitching, the long ball carries them. Tough pitchers usually shut them down. Cubs are better at Ozzieball than Ozzie's guys.
Defense: Cubs get edge everywhere but 3b. Itzuris and Cedeno could be the best MIF in baseball.
Managers: Even. Everyone knows I liked Ozzie better than Baker, but now that Ozzie has been neutered for shooting off his mouth, he isn't the same.
Not too much to argue about sox fans, is there?
