The National Federation of State High School Associations (NFHS) approved a handful of changes for the 2010-11 baseball season, the most significant being outlawing the use of composite bats.

The NFHS baseball rules committee voted to forbid the use of such bats until they can meet the Batted Ball Coefficient of Restitution performance standards. Among the concerns expressed by the committee were seemingly easy way to tamper with the bat to increase performance.

Bats with composite handles or tapers will still be legal. The new rule applies to bat barrels.
