I have read a lot on Illinois State and they seem to be a good team and come from a great program with success in all sports. Their facilities seem quite nice, their strength coach makes his athletes better by a considerable ammount and it looks like a program I might fit into quite nicely. The question nothing on their website can answer for me is how good of an experience do kids have when going to isu? The other is How good/ competitve of a conference is the midwest valley conference? I haven't had the chance to catch a game for myself but I am wondering how they stack up. They have a lot of games against big 10 teams and that would suggest that ISU is quite competitive from a d1 standpoint, but how would they stack up against acc, big 12, or SEC teams or teams who can have more time outside?? Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks in advance

I play for a MVC team, last year it was ranked 5th in the country in RPI and overall records. Top competition all around. Every school puts a huge emphasis on athletics. I would say that every team could compete with schools in the top 4 conferences, ACC, Big 10, Pac 12, and SEC. Of course some not as good as others but baseball is baseball and anything can happen. ISU has great facilities and if you have a chance to go there it would be a great choice. BTW it's Missouri Valley not midwest valley. That sounds like a Juco Div 3 conference. Free for all questions.
I agree that MVC is a quality conference, but both Nolan and Boyd's had the MVC ranked #7 in RPI.

I do believe, however, that there is a considerable drop in overall conference strength once you get past the SEC, ACC, Big 12 and Pac 10.

The next 10 or 12 conferences are all pretty close after that, where one team that gets hot can jump that conference up in the rankings.

The MVC has great tradition and some very good facilities.

ISU baseball is definitely on the rise, and I have never heard anything but good reviews on the Bloomington/Normal area.
