Well its been about 4 years since I last graced this site and to be honest it was because of being dissapointed when my son decided to give up school and ball. But........ After maturing a little and going through a couple life changes he has decided to give it the old college try again.

After not even picking up a ball in 5 plus years with about 2 months of stretching and getting back in shape he seems to be on his way. Only time will tell if he can come all the way back to what he was when drafted; but according to the coaching staff they expect him to and to move on from there.

I hope that what he gets out of this mature statement is at the very least being able to say that he gave it his best shot. But my hope is that he at least finishes his education. Anything more would be BONUS.

Ok an update.... I wanted to wait till spring ball started to give an accurate account of where my son is.

After using the fall to re stretch all those unused muscles and the winter break to increase his strength he has moved into a weekend starter role. His velocity is still not quite there and may never return. He appears to be in the mid to upper 80's with the same plus movement he had vs. upper 80's to low 90's. One benefit is that his curve is more advanced than it use to be and can throw it with good command. The same with a cutter he always threw. There are a few schools that have contacted him already to continue toward a degree at a 4 year school.
Now the important stuff at least for me... He is having a blast, his team mates call him "Pop's" and he has a 3.6 GPA last I checked clapping
