My HS team sits at 2-2 with game scores of 5-2, 19-3, 2-1, 3-1. We have received outstanding efforts from our starting pitchers but have only managed 5 total hits in the last two full games. Too many strikeouts, lack of baserunners, and falling behind in the count has our team BA at .150. I have two practices before our next game and want to implement so drills/games in practice to raise the confidence level of my line-up. The talent is there but the production hasn't been. Help me help them

Well I suggest getting a chicken and sacrificing it.......or go the more humane route and get some KFC.

I'm just kidding and welcome to the site. It's a really great place.

Might need some more information as to what's going on to help you.

Which of those games did you win? Since you are saying that you are not hitting well I'm going to assume that you didn't win the 19 - 3 game.

Are your guys falling behind because they are taking or swinging at stuff outside of the zone?

When they do put the ball into play are they hitting it hard or soft / weak?
We went through a similiar struggle earlier in the year.

I started telling my guys how good they were. I realized I sometimes expected them to fail, and that was bad. I checked MY confidence in them, and really boosted them up with each talk.

We also started hitting on the field only pretty much. My kids just respond to it better. We will have a soft toss/tee station on the field with a screen and live guys hitting on the field also. I sent all the freshman to the cage to get their cuts.

One other thing I would suggest, If you have time to work with each of them....change something that doesn't matter at all. You say you have plenty of talent so it's probably just a mental slump you guys are in. If you tell a kid that he's "slightly raising his chin" before contact, they will think that's been their problem the whole time. It helps to get back their confidence.
