Say it's the bottom of the last inning. Less than 2 out, game winning run on 3rd, a speedy one at that. The RF foul line is fairly deep, say 330-335. And the ball is hit high and deep into the RF corner, a couple feet foul, but not into the stands or over the fence-a high catchable fly ball that gives you enough time to set up under. Should you:
A: make the catch and try gunning it home in hopes of getting the final out and preventing the win?
Or B:Intentionally let the ball drop in foul territory in the hopes of the hitter striking out or grounding out on the next pitch or two, and keep the game-winning runner on third?

Ive seen it at least a couple of times. This year we had a runner on third with one out in the 6th in a scoreless game. Deep fly ball hit to right field no way he throws out the runner at third also he is running hard to his left in foul territory to get to the ball. He tries to make the catch but it drops out of his glove. Batter ks on the next pitch and the next batter grounds out to second base no runs scored. We ended up getting beat 1-0. If the kid makes the catch we at least would have been tied after 7.
