I had been thinking about Illinois' own Frank Thomas.

Will he get in? Is he a first ballot HOFer?

Will his formerly non-media darling status make a great effect? Conversely, will his lack of attachment to steroids and his stated willingness to test throughout his career help him?

Just curious, he seems to be a polarizing figure.

First Ballot without a doubt. Btw I loath the White Sox, so this is purely objective.

One thing that I think sometimes gets lost in HOF consideration is the fear factor. What I mean is one should consider whether or not teams dreaded facing a player during their career. Without a doubt, Thomas was the most feared hitter for the period of four years.

While I think Bert Blyleven was a great pitcher, I am not quite sure any hitters wanted the day off cause 'ol Bert was on the bump ready to face them. Longevity and the accumulation of solid stats has not been and should not be enough for this enshrinement.

Thomas absolutely a first ballot.

Also, the spitting incident did little to derail Alomar's chances.
