My 2012 son has a one-page bio and a 3-min. video that he will soon send to college coaches. I've been filming his at bats and can calculate home-to-first from the video (30 frames per second). When I do this from contact, his times are in the 4.5-4.6 range (= slooow). However, one of them, he was clearly out by a step or two and slowed down.

Should he include this in what he sends college coaches, or just let their interest be piqued by the hitting and fielding? Or will they simply then ask him (via email or phone) "How's your speed? Have you been timed?". At some point, they might time him themselves - but will he possibly chase them away by advertising below average times? He's a middle infielder, currently playing 3B on his HS team though. Good bat w/ gap to gap power for a little guy (5'9 150 lbs., several doubles and a triple already this season).

Thank you.

4.5/4.6 is about average for any high school player. Just to give you an idea, 4.2 is the average MLB Home to 1st time for a right handed hitter, 4.1 for a lefty. Anyone who tells you they are sub 3.9 have no clue what they are doing, sorry to put it that way. For a small guy, once and if he gets in the gym consistently, gets with a speed coach and adds strength plus some muscle, speed can improve. Bottom line is it's not going to ruin your recruiting process but if you do improve speed it will make you more of a commodity.
