Wondering if anyone has heard of independent highschool baseball teams vs FHSAA? Our coach is thinking of going indepedent just wondering the goods and the bads.....Thanks

Thats pretty interesting. I am in N. Central Florida and have heard nothing about that. Where are you located?

Independant may be the private schools. In our stare some of the privates choose to join the state athletic association. Some choose to stay independent. It's two separate state tournaments. The state association tournament is the prestigious one. The upside to being independent is not being subject to state association rules.
The IMG Academies are independent.
It's if you want to play your own schedule without having to play schools in your district, but there's no post season.

I've never heard of that for high school teams.
I know that Notre Dame is probably the most notable in the college game. At the time they decided to do it they could because they were bigger than conferences (most notable football), now that has changed.
I don't see the value of doing that at the high school level and giving up post-season play.

They are generally the private schools that don't want to be governed by the FHSAA. There are more in Florida than you think.
You are not kidding, there are lot of those Private Schools in FL. In a few here in Central FL, they are the first step here for Dominican Players. When they do not have the Public High School rules they a can also play many more games and offer a true year round program.
