This Saturday, March 12th, St Christopher's hosts Greenbrier Christian Academy at 1100AM and Bishop Sullivan at 230PM. St. C has been VISAA State runner-up 3 of the last 4 years and GCA is annually top D-2 (and among all privates).Bishop Sullivan ranked in Top Ten all year and just missed DI eight team playoff.

StC lost 5 starters including VISAA POY Campbell Henkel (VMI),Kurt Fleming (8th round-Atlanta Braves)and three others playing D3 this year in college.

Will be a good early season look at what these teams have.

Usually StC hosts two teams who also play another Richmond area private, but not sure if GCA and BS playing anyone else. Can't imagine thay are travelling to Richmond to play one game. Any one know?

Casey is a senior. As of two-three weeks ago, had not committed. Outstanding student- has been recruited by Ivy League schools and may be waiting to see how admissions go there. Other options at some top D3 programs.

Assume then that Norf Collegiate plays Benedictine at 1100AM?

So if this involves three Richmond teams and three Tidewater teams

is this the schedule?
GCA @ StC 1100AM
BSHS@ Coll (Richmond) 1100AM
Norf Coll@ Benedictine 1100AM

BSHS@ StC 230PM
Norf Coll@ Coll (Rich) 230PM
GCA@Benictine 230PM

Norfolk Collegiate plays Trinity Episcopal at 11:00
Trinity Episcopal then plays Covenant at 2:30
Both at Trinity

More teams than I thought. That makes the scdeule as follows (I think!)

1100AM

Norf Coll @ Trinity
GCA @ StC
Bishop Sullivan @ Collegiate (Ric)
Covenant @ Benedictine

230PM

Bishop Sullivan @ StC
Covenant @ Trinity
Norf Collegiate @ Ric Collegiate
GCA @ Benedictine
GCA beat StC 5-4. Good game. StC touched Greenbrier starter Currie (???) for four runs. Stc took 4-1 lead into 5th. Fox tires, replaced, GCA ties and scores again the next inning.

StC beats Bishop Sullivan 19-5 in five innings. StC scores 10 in the first, 5 in the second, then substitutes. Understand Sullivan beat Collegiate in the early game by a softball type score (heard 26-15).

Confirm?

Other scores from this independant schools opening day round robin?

I know we have an assistant coach keep our book so our stats are legit.

Thats good to hear. Unfortunatly more times then not in the HS ranks a parent keeps the book and through inexperience or bias they don't keep a true book. When a kid hits a ball that goes through the second baseman legs and then the right fielder airmails the throw the last thing you expect to see is that the stats show a double just because the player ended up on 2B. When errors don't show up for some players or others get credit for extra base hits that are not, then the coaches and those player lose the respect of the other players.
