Classic, I love the video! I remember doing January/February long toss with my son at our local field when he was in HS. He would take a 5 gallon bucket filled with balls and throw them to me while moving backwards. I do remember many times where the field was frozen.

 

Fortunately, through college, the local indoor baseball facility allowed college guys to work out from 7-10 AM for a small fee. 

A few years ago I ran a cable across the top of the garage, attached a section of batting cage net and attached a throwing pad (I got it from Oates).  He used the net to hit off a tee and the pad to do weighted balls.  Recently doing off season work it rained everyday so my son rotated weighted balls and then simulated long toss by moving closer to the pad and net and throwing as he would to a partner in long toss.  Not perfect but really not bad at all.  We took a 5 day family vacation and brought a ball and long sock and did his throwing 4 of the 5 days with the sock drill.  Necessity is the mother of invention.
