These are all good questions.
1baseballdad,
You are correct in that the games are actually simulated. I have no way of telling you if it would be worth it. In most cases we can only know that once an event is over. There are no guarantees that anything great will happen for you. I will say this... If your son is talented, you'll probably end up being very happy you attended. If he does not possess adaquate talent, you might be better off doing something different. Then again everyone has their own reasons for attending any specific event. I just don't want to talk someone I don't know into doing anything.
Vicarious Dad,and others who might be interested about this and other events,
I would suggest contacting PG with your questions. I'm fairly certain our people will be very honest. If they're not they won't be PG people any longer.
This event will be very much like the indoor we hold in Iowa each year. The facilities in MD are bigger than ours, so we can do more things. The one in Iowa is for Pitchers and Catchers with a few hitters sprinkled in. There are no real games, just simulated games with pitchers throwing live to hitters with a catcher.
Personally I have never been in this MD facility, but it was highly recommended. The cost is $295.
Some very talented kids will be there.
I can't speak for this event as it is a new one. At our indoor in Iowa it is heavily scouted by Pro scouts, Junior Colleges, and other colleges. Not the DIs, however the DIs still follow what happens during their quiet periods. Here is a link where you can click on the years to check out that event.
Indoor ShowcaseProbably most important is that we will send 6 to 8 of our scouts to evaluate the talent and report. If someone feels this is not of major importance, they should not attend this event.
Our goal is, as always, to find talented players and then let everyone know about them.
