Infield fly

Looking for clarification on the infield fly with respect to the base runners. If the fly ball is dropped and the runners advance at their own risk is the subsequent attempt to put them out a force or a tag play? I've seen comments that say the only effect of the IF rule is to make the batter out and all other actions are the same, but if the batter is out is the force play then removed? Thanks.

Yes the force is removed. There can never be a force if the batter-runner is out. That's the whole purpose of the Infield Fly Rule.
