How often do you guys drag/maintenance your infield skin during the off season?

I am asking because we have had a very mild fall and winter so far and I have a lot of unwanted grass in the skin area. I am gonna have a lot of work to do before tryouts in about a month.

Looking for ideas that might help me avoid this next season after play concludes in the summer and early fall.

Luckily, we don’t have much of that problem in this neck of the woods because the fields are seldom not being used for long enough to get much unwanted weed or grass growth in the IF dirt. But its really nothing to worry much about. Just find out from you’re local county ag people, golf course superintendents, college ag dept, or nursery, what’s the best weed killer for your area at this time of the year, and get it applied SOON.

It should snuff out your problem growth in a week or so, and a couple of deep drags to loosen up the soil down at least 4-6” will have you in business in just a few hours.
During the summer I make it a point to go out to my field once a week to maintain the facility. Sometimes it is no more than a walk through and sometimes I have to cut the grass, kill weeds, remove grass from the dirt area. During the fall the school maintenance department does a great job of fine tuning the field like edging the fence line and edging the infield grass area. I have found through the years a little maintenance every week or so is better and easier than a couple of weekends before the season starts
