So, I tried surfing (again...it has been 30 years) this past weekend as I was on vacation in the NC Outer Banks aka OBX as they are known around here. I forgot how easy it looks and how hard it actually is. Possibly OBX was not the ideal place for me to attempt this again at almost 59 years old, but what the heck.
I was equally successful in scaring (possibly scarring) many small children away (old fat man in a wet suit) as I was falling left, right and backwards. Standing on a surfboard while the ocean is moving just isn't my gig, but the beer did taste better after falling down 25+ times on each day!
PS...I learned a new surfing phrase last week..."rail bang". Yes, it hurt.
Just great! Lived in Hawaii for a few years. Used to watch surfing on Wide World of Sports and was unimpressed until I saw North shore waves in person and not thru a huge lens.
Big as a damn house and they came over the highway!. Guys looked like ants on top of them.

kid 1 is the shortstop who fields grounders between his legs during warmups. Kid 2 was a bad read or a bad hop, depending on whether you're talking to his mom or his backup's mom. Kid 3 is the 3rd baseman who the coach tells to play in for the bunt when the 6'4"/230 vandy commit is coming up to bat
