My son is a 2013 senior and wants to play for the local JUCO, that recruits national (and even internationally) and has one of the best programs in the state and by far the best facilities.

He has books an tuition offers from other schools, both in and out of state, but even with those scholarships would have to pay quite a bit out of pocket.

He has an "invited walkon" spot at the local JUCO and with academic and other scholarships would actually be making money.

Does this sound like a good deal, or do walkons get the short end of the stick regardless?

What I like is free part. If he can get a degree that will afford him a living and come out of college debt free and by all means do it.
