Not sure about the other Districts, but several Beach teams must play 3 games this week prior to the District Tourney starting on Saturday and with the possibility of rain tommorrow to further complicate things, coaches will have to decide whether or not save their pitching for the tourney or not. Kempsville and Salem appear to be in a battle for the last playoff spot, but with the Chiefs holding both the tiebreak and a one game lead, the Sundevils will likely have to win out and hope for 2 Kempsville losses. FC, Cox and Kellam are still in a battle for the regular season championship, but the others will be playing for seeding purposes only and will likely decide to save their pitching for the tourney

I had not heard that. It seems to me, it would be more fair to teams fighting for a playoff spot to start the tourney Friday (weather permitting)or even play the tourney at mutiple locations in order to get it in. I see no reason all games have to be played at Landstown
it used to be a 4 team tourney then it went to 6 then to 8--- i belive they reduced the tourney to 4 once about 10 years ago or at least threatened to reduce the # of teams i the tourney and lets just say that certain parents made calls to the right people and prevented that from occuring.

i think the beach should just play everyone twice, include a couple of games over spring break on the district schedule and be done with it. take those 2 games orginally scheduled for this week and move them to mon+ wed of spring break and i think everyone would be happier. those that complain about lack of round robin- home and home play would be happy. (some schedules are tougher than others and so on Those that want to travel for spring break, go ahead just leave ur cleats and gloves at home.

i really hope everyone gets their games in this week
Cox has a 1 game lead in the loss column over FC and Kellam. A win over OL today and Kemp on Wednesday gives them the title. A loss and we could have some tiebreaker issues.

I agree with Mr C in that the Beach District Schedule is inherently unfair when you play some teams twice and others only once. For example, of the top 3 contenders at the Beach, the cummulative district record (at this point in the season) of the teams they must play twice is as follows:

Cox 46-34
FC 31-49
Kellam 32-46

It could be just an aberation that Cox had to play all the top teams twice this year, but in order to make it fair for all teams, you need to play all teams in the district once (or twice)...not some teams once and some teams twice. I'm not positive, but I do not think its done that way in any other sport...at least and not count towards the district standings.
the thing that might get interesting/ stressful is if 2 teams ended up tied at end of reg season, there would be a 1 gm playoff on thurs, then dis tourney start on sat. that would make 4 games in 6 days for some teams and that would test some pitching staffs

the one game playoff is all good until the loser of that game has to regroup and get into that d. t. to battle into the regional by winning at least 2 more games

and everything is subject to- dare i say more rain
