I'm not sure what happened. If the fielder is making his initial attempt to field the ball and contacts the runner (regardless of who initiates the contact), then it is interference on the runner. If the fielder misplays the ball and is chasing it (more than a step and a reach away from his initial attempt) when the contact occurs, then it is obstruction on the fielder.

Sounds like Dash covered it. The thrid possibility is the runner passed in front of the SS but far enough to allow the SS to make the play, then it is nothing.
