We're going through a similar situation with my son. He has tendonitis. You need to see a doctor for a diagnosis.
How you get better varies. Some require a complete shut down period of varying time periods and some can cut back on throwing and work through it with physical therapy and anti inflamatory meds like advil.
But you really need the doc (orthopedic) to guide you.

Will it effect development of my arm, or injure it any further if I continue to play with it? I know that it's important to get it taken care of, but if it's only pain I can play through it. I play sports year-round and there really is no time that I could take off if at all possible. But if it's a real threat I guess I don't have any real choice
