Does anyone here have any knowledge of the process of gaining citizenship in another country and the timetables in which this occurs? I have been involved in a situation (a good situation) in which the possibility for a person I know to obtain dual citizenship has come up but everyone that has knowledge of the situation is rather unaware of the remainder of the process. The acquiring of the additional passport will most likely directly be related to baseball (that's why I am posting this question on HSBBWeb), but I'd prefer to not delve into the details publicly just yet because of the prematurity of the process.

If anyone does have any knowledge of anything that involved this sort of thing, please shoot me a PM so I can discuss this with you. Thanks a lot.

JH,
Not really sure of the dilemma. Dual citizenship can be a bit complicated, allowed in the US (do not force you to give up your citizenship of another country when you become one here) but not necessarily in other countries.
Not sure of the difficulty of a natural born US citizen seeking citizenship in another country (other than their parents were born there).
If needed to play baseball to represent another country, you would have to find out if that would be a reason to gain citizenship to that country.
Shoot me a pm if you need to.

I would think that you need to contact the Embassy or Immigrations of the Country in question for the answers you want.

Two of my four children where born in England during my tenure with NSA. As such, they had dual citizenship until the age of 21. At that point, if they wished to become a British Citizen they would have had to go through "the process" to declare their citizenship.

I wouldn't advise taking that process lightly, to play baseball!
