Reach out to whoever you want.  If a school gets angry over that, then they need to step up and make an offer or hit the road. Do what is best for your son, not what might upset a coach. The more schools interested the better, nothing more important than having options in recruiting. I wouldn't worry about anyone's feelings other than your sons.

one Ivy is conversing with 2020 son. Should he send intro to the others?

I’m for casting a wider net, but don’t want to anger the current opportunity

Bandera - College baseball recruiting is a numbers game and no where is numbers more important than with the Ivys in my honest opinion.   Each is looking for approx. 8 recruits per year while considering thousands of candidates nationally.   When my son was first contacted by an Ivy recruiter, the next thing he did was reach out to other Ivys (based on their engineering program) to see if there was initial interest on their part.   As it turned out, 4 were initially interested, then finally 2 Ivys were seriously interested and offered.  The two other Ivys fell off the radar over time.   This is almost always how it works with this type of recruiting and there are no guarantees until Admissions gives their seal of approval.

Absolutely, you should reach out to each school that your son is interested in to see if the feeling is mutual.  If reaching out to other schools is going to anger a coach (before your son has committed) then you don't want to go to school there.  If every recruit that was conversing with an Ivy didn't reach out to other schools there would be a lot of empty dugouts.

Good luck, and as always JMO.   Let me know if I can help in any way.

Bandera: There are many hi's and lows in the recruiting process (Fenway once called it a "labyrinth") which I saw with my son in Ivy recruiting. Son got to know many of the recruits as he saw some of the same players at HA showcases, camps and Junior days (at Dartmouth- IVY and Georgetown, other). Cast a wide net. Son had one IVY target him for a while, then when times were getting close to where he was receiving offers--"crickets" from that school (likely the proverbial, "going another direction.")

Schools have their "recruiting boards" and you do not always know where exactly your player ranks. Son didn't know he was number 1 on the school's board until about a day or two before he received his offer (where he would land)also right around time when Big State U (Top 25) offered. Think of the recruiting process as a square dance..schools on one side of the gym and players on the other. You are not sure how the other side truly feels or you think you do but then are puzzled with an outcome. Even when you are dancing you surely can't be certain until the music stops and you commit to an OFFER.

Don't worry about angering the current opportunity, you are just at the "conversing stage" as you mention. Believe that the IVY is also conversing with several others, many of whom other Ivies are also courting. In conclusion, if he has interest in other schools (other Ivies) by all means reach out and introduce himself to the fullest. The Ivies compete with each others off the field too, in hoping they can land the best players, especially those whom others covet. Good luck to your son in his recruiting journey.
