I know this isn't baseball, however, IMO, this is at least a start to establishing a standard throughout professional sports.

The NFL and the Players Association have come to an agreement to lower the allowable testosterone level, keeping in line with standards set up by the International Olympic Committee, according to commissioner Paul Tagliabue.

NFL commissioner Paul Tagliabue says the Cowboys may host the Super Bowl in Arlington in 2011 or 2012. Speaking at the SMU Athletic Forum luncheon Tuesday, Tagliabue said the deal should be finalized next week. The league will adopt a 4-1 ratio of testosterone to epitestosterone, another natural hormone, instead of 6-to-1.

The NFL has turned over its performance-enhancing substance regulations to the same congressional committee that heard testimony regarding baseball's steroid issues.

Tagliabue said he is proud of the NFL's anti-steroid policy even after the recent report involving three members of the Carolina Panthers.

"I don't think there's a big indicator that we have a widespread problem," Tagliabue said.

He said the league has poured more than $10 million into its steroid and substance-abuse policies and is up to date with current detection technologies. Forty-four players have been suspended in the 15 years the NFL has had random steroid testing.

Read an article the other day regarding the steroid situation in sports.

Writer pointed out that the youth of today is a "drugged youth" in that we have so many elementary and HS kids on prescription drugs for learning disorders etc.

I have a concern of my own that we have too many doctors taking the easy way out by prescribing "drugs" for depression etc in our youth and not actually treating the problem.

I also wonder how many people on our country, adults and kids are actually "hooked" on one prescription drug or another and the doctors just keep renewing for their patients.

This problem is more of a concern to me than steroid.

Any thoughts>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

YOu are so wrong it is sickening !!!

Your insinuations are way over the edge!!!!

It is amazing how all the "anti-TRhit" people ride the same train--- as Tyson said yesterday--- "it is going to be a train wreck"--BUT TRhit won't be in it!!!! Is there an engineer on the train ?

Lets put it another way-- I sleep well at night --every night and my conscious is clear--

"steroids or other supplements" --both you and Drivel need to learn the differention--you both confuse steroids with supplements

TR,
That's ok, I understand what you were referring to, sometimes things we say here get lost in the translation.
I agree with some of your statements. When I hurt my back all they wanted to do was give me pain killer after pain killer to see what worked until I finally said, this ain't gonna happen, let's DO something about it.
I am concerned about the steroids in sports, but also concerend how we feed our youth cure all pills, without addressing the underlying problems.

TR,

I share your concern regarding the way prescription drugs are handed out but I don’t know enough about it to come up with an answer. Perhaps you can try to solve this one and I’ll spend some time solving the steroid problem.

The first way I would solve the steroid problem is to have all professional sports enact IOC testing and enact severe penalties for cheaters. Two year ban for the first time and if there is a next time, it would be life.

I would also enact similar testing and penalties for colleges and high schools.

With TR and I busy solving these two issues, is there anyone out there that wants to handle world hunger?
