Everything in baseball is mental. Pitching is mental, hitting is, fielding is.

But when you try to hard (pressing) usually when your in a slump, but also when you feel like you have to prove something, it can affect your mechanics. Also, when your tense, you won't get as much as you could from your swing, from your throw, as you could if you were more relaxed.

So, is why your crushing the ball because your so relaxed and confident at the plate? Well.. it can't hurt, thats for sure! I'd say it's deffinately a big big part of it. So keep up the good WORK! party
In my opinion of all the things in baseball that is most related to the mental state of mind hitting is at the front of the pack. You can have all the ability in the world but if you are not mentally focused and relaxed you are toast. Confident , relaxed and focused that is where you want to be. One reason you see kids slump is because it becomes a negative mental snowball effect. The same can be said of the kid that just goes on a tear and it seems no one can get him out. He is in a positive mental state entirely focused and confident. We have all seen this from both sides I am sure. Ive seen kids with average ability go on tears. And I have seen extremely talented hitters slump.
