I wanted to take this opportunity to use the power of the internet to encourage everyone to get the tests done that your doctor has been encouraging you to get done but you have been putting off.

As I have been dealing myself with treatment for rectal cancer for the past 8 months I have met so many people that have been putting off having the potentially lifesaving test for colo-rectal cancer done. Ah yes, the dreaded colonoscopy. It has amazed me how many people I have met that have put off this test even after they were showing initial symptoms. The most common initial symptoms are bleeding and diarrhea. These are so often written off as a result of hemorrhoids and a little irregularity. By far more men seem to not want to have this test done. Well guys, suck it up and get the test done. The prep time the day before certainly is no fun but you will most likely be sound asleep for the test. So stop acting like babies and go get the test scheduled.

So please take my advice and get the test done if you are due, if not for yourself, then for your family.

I do hope your treatment is successful Catching Coach. You're right of course. If a problem is suspected and a colonoscopy is recommended please follow your doctor's order.

I've had one and I'm scheduled for another. The preparation is the worst part of the deal. Make sure your toilet is in good working order and the necessarily short pathway to the bathroom is free and clear of all objects and anything you may value...loved ones, pets, photos, trophies, etc.

If any of them stand between you and the throne when The Urge Turns to Surge they will be included in the whole process... eliminated!

Trust me...it is not really bad. The payoff is huge. Think about it!

Thanks for the post Coach.

Catching Coach,

My prayers are with you as you go through this. And, I appreciate you being so candid. Sometimes that is not easy to do as this can be a sensitive subject.

Another thing I would like to add to your post is if you are experiencing any symptoms that may resemble "trouble" please don't wait to speak to your physician. Also, this disease doesn't discriminate with age. Don't think you are too young, people!

Having just gone through this, Catching Coach, please have faith. Keep a good attitude and enjoy the little things. Be strong, accept help when offered. Love lots. And, finally, prayer has healing powers beyond our comprehension.
Thanks for the reminder Catching Coach, you're absolutely right. I truly hope that your treatments and recovery is going well! I also have to agree with CM...it's time to man up and get these procedures done. I like my doctor, but for some reason I can't stand going in for check ups...my wife ends up setting up my annual appointment...obviously there are a few of us around like that?

Hey RR23...Thanks for posting that link. It's a good reminder for us guys...and as FOG noted, the gals too!
