We all like to compare stats from LL to MLB and compare our heroes of yesterday to those of today. A couple of two or three years ago there was an announcer on ESPN or at some game that kept mentioning or questioning whether or not the baseball itself had been modified and he used this as rationale for why so many of yesterday's heroes records are going by the wayside.
Does anyone remember this or know if there has been any changes in the physical manufacturing of a baseball?
How can we explain the tremendous increase in home runs?
I'm kinda from the old-school train of thought and believe the players of yesterday were just physically stronger than they are today and could endure far more pain and were in general better long term athletes than today.
