There's a pitcher in our high school getting a lot of interest from mid level D1's and a few majors. The kid throws 87 on a good day. He must be having good days at showcases. I haven't seen it in high school. I haven't seen him pitch a good game. He hasn't had one good high school season. The only season he ever produced was a 16U summer travel team two seasons back. The high school coach said he gets calls on the kid. I thought it was BS until the coach mentioned the calls.
I understand recruiting is about tools and projectability. But shouldn't the kid be capable of one decent high school season? If we're looking at projectability the kid is under six feet and hasn't grown in two years.
