Ok first a time line.

2002 graduated HS drafted but went to college D-1

2003 After completing 1 yr school drops out 1st semester sophmore year does not pick up a ball.

2009 Re-enters college at a JUCO, Makes team. Has had several D-1's contacting again. will need one summer credit for assoc degree.

Ok the rules say when entering a 4 year school you have 5 years to play 4. then there is the 4-2-4 rule. Even though he would quailify for the 4-2-4 rule after getting his degree; Is there a way to get an reinstatement in relation to the 5 to play 4 rule. He doesnt care the level of school but I would like him to on inital contact to let the D-1 school(s) know he is not eligible unless there is a way to get reinstated.

Seems to me that it turns out to be punishment for the kids who for various reasons have been out of school for several years but wise up enough to return. And there is another on this team in the same boat and one from another team also that I am aware of.

The 5 calendar years in which to play 4 seasons is a D1 rule, and does not apply to D2/D3/NAIA.
Instead the rule is 10 full-time semesters in which to play 4 seasons.

A full-time semester is charged if the player attends one class after enrolling as a full-time student, as defined by the enrolling institution.

It sounds like the player has used 3 semesters at the original D1, and has consumed 2 more semesters at the JUCO (although I can't tell for sure from the timeline). He still has apparently 2 seasons of competition left. So, it seems likely that he can play anywhere but a D1.

The D1 possibilites are minimal, unless he was in the armed forces or on a church mission.
